Barbara Aton’s art exhibit of landscapes, portraits, animals and still-life will be on display in Greenfield Banking Company’s Art Gallery during July and August.
Barbara’s interest in art began as a child while participating in school art programs. Later in life she was further encouraged by friends to pursue her artistic talent. Barbara is particularly fond of oils, finding it to be a fascinating medium. She has studied under several known artists including Ron Mack and Nancy Scott and credits their guidance in acquiring various painting techniques. Barbara paints as a source of relaxation while also serving as a challenge. “It makes you more aware. You look at everything and see the world with a lot of respect”, states Barbara. Among the awards for her artwork: “Tabby Cat with a Vase”, won “Amateur Division” at the Riley Festival; “Mountain and Road” landscape was awarded Third Place at the Indiana State Fair. Barbara is also available for commissioned art work.
The public is invited to visit the Greenfield Banking Company Art Gallery in July and August to view the artwork of Barbara Aton. The Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the Main Office, 1920 North State Street, Greenfield, Indiana.

WHY WE SAY IT!!
TO RUB THE WRONG WAY.
Wealthy ladies of Elizabethan England had few conveniences but prided themselves on spotless homes. They took particular care to see that their wide-board oak floors were tidy. since varnish was seldom used, it was necessary to have one's floors wet-rubbed and dry-rubbed several times a week. Though a simple, routine operation, it required a degree of care in running the mop along the grain of the wood.
Careless servants sometimes mopped across the grain. This produced streaks on the floor, and to a discriminating housekeeper was worse than no cleaning. It was a source of great irritation for a domestic to "rub the wrong way", and the expression crept into general use to stand for clumsy or inept handling of persons as well as floors.
NOW YOU KNOW!
THAT'S ALL FOR NOW. BE SURE TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING TO ATTEND THE MEMBERS LUNCHEON ON JULY 10. ALSO, I NEED TO KNOW YOUR NEWS.......SHOWS, DISPLAYS, EVENTS, WORKSHOPS, OR ANYTHING OF INTEREST TO OTHER ARTISTS. SEND IT TO PVINDY@AOL.COM THANK YOU, MISS SALI
