Hi,
I have some news that may be of interest to several of our members.
My friend and painting instructor Becky Owen is in her late 70's. She has decided to wind down and clear out most of her supplies now after 40 plus years of painting and teaching classes.
Below is the note that Becky sent me, on my request, to give you a brief idea.
I leave it up to you on how and what if anything, you would like to publish in our newsletter.
Becky has a load of art supplies of all kinds. She has decided to clean house, so to speak, and is having a large sale next month. I have been in her storage area and it is packed. I know she has over 400 books for example. I know Becky well and she is more interested in seeing others enjoy this stuff than any money she will gain as a result.
She has a lot that she is planning to just give away for others enjoyment. I am sure everything she has for sale will be very reasonably priced.
I thought you would like to know and I think many of our members could benefit from this.

WHY WE SAY IT!
DAUGHTER!!!!
There are many indications that Western civilization was born somewhere near the fertile valley of the Tigris River, in Asia. Ancient tribes, using the Sanskrit language, spread out fanlike and settled numerous sections of both Asia and Europe. Descendants of some of these early people eventually became known as Anglos and Saxons. Invading Britain in the fifth century, they stamped their ways and words upon the island.
Anglo - Saxons called a person who milked a "dohtor", from Sanskrit duh, meaning "to milk." In most families the task of milking fell to adolescent girls. As a result "dohtor" gradually came to stand for young girls in general - whether milkmaids or not. Modified by centuries of usage, the ancient term for the-one-who-milks had become daughter before the time of Shakespeare.
